This is the first time I've posted here, sorry if it's in the wrong place. I'm currently a third year mental health student nurse 2 weeks into my management placement. For the past year (in between theory at uni) I have had placements within the community and not ward based. So coming back to a ward for my management placement has been quite challenging. I felt quite overwhelmed with all the changes since I'd been on the wards - mainly the documentation processes. But as a third year, there are high expectations and I feel like staff are expecting much more.

Anyway, down to the actual point of this post. I applied for a job for when I qualify to
Work where I am currently on placement (a few weeks ago). I was fortunate enough to get an interview! The interview was 3 days after I had started my management placement, so I haven't really found my feet and I'm still trying to become familiar with the ward tasks, team and the patients. Though I had felt overwhelmed at the begging, by the end of the week I was already feeling much more confident that I was picking things up quick and was making a good impression. I had the interview and was unsuccessful, one of the main issues from my feedback was a lack of confidence. I am aware that I need to work on my confidence and fast!

Confidence has always been a weakness for me, although I do feel that I've come a long way from first year. This feedback has got me thinking that maybe it's not enough. Which has me questioning my ability to get through my management placement.

I just want to know if anyone is in a similar position or has been. How did you grow confidence wise? What helps with confidence building? I feel like it's going to be even harder now being on placement where I know they don't think I'm suitable for the job upon qualification. Understandably it's knocked me back a bit and I'm feeling quite low to be honest. I don't want this to be a problem and I want to show them I've taken their feedback on board and that I just needed a bit of time to work on confidence. Any advice would be really appreciated! Thanks :)
